COMMUNITY RELATIONS

CLAYTON JULY 4th CELEBRATION

Every year the City of Clayton, Idaho hosts a 4th of July Celebration. The Clayton 4th of July Celebration is an historic event, which has taken place for many decades. It is an important tradition bringing together people from all over Custer County, including the nearby city of Challis. CMX provides its consent for the event to take place on a portion of its patented claims in an area known locally as the “Clayton Park”. An Independence Day Parade is held on the highway through Clayton, followed by a big barbeque. Organizers cook a shoulder of beef overnight in a pit, and serve it up to over 300 people attending the festivities. Part of the reason the Independence Day festivities are so important to Clayton is because it reminds hundreds of people all at once of the town’s existence. It gives Clayton residents a chance to share the town’s unique mining history.
